The Navajo-Hopi Indian Relocation Commission (NHIRC) records are organized in 11 series. They contain legal documents, magazine and newpaper articles, questionnaires/surveys, notebooks, correspondence, presentations, budgets, and research/reports concerning the impact of relocation, livestock reduction, and Navajo and Hopi culture. In additon there are photographs and binders of raw statistical data. Of particular interest are the household surveys and questionnaires performed in the 1980s concerning relocation. The photograph collection includes five black and white photographs taken by John J. Wood of the Big Mountain community for the report Land and Religion at Big Mountain. Also included are ten aerial images.
